Seizures can strike without warning, affecting anyone, anywhere, at any time. They don’t care about age, background, or health. A seizure occurs when the brain’s electrical activity becomes disrupted, and while the event may only last a few seconds, the risks can be life-threatening if the proper action isn’t taken. Knowing what to do in the moment can mean the difference between safety and serious harm.
This is why the Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia (EFGA) is committed to raising awareness and educating communities throughout the state. Our mission is to ensure that everyone-from schools and healthcare providers to families and businesses-has the knowledge and skills needed to respond confidently and effectively when a seizure happens. With over 110,000 individuals living with epilepsy in Georgia, our work is far-reaching and critical to creating a safer, more informed state.
