The 2014 Taste of Love gala recognized a milestone this year as it reach its 10th anniversary. The theme Celebrate lent itself to many meanings throughout the event. For one, the event is a wonderful time filled with great people, delicious food, fine wines, a variety of auction items, and a chance to dance the night away, but also a chance to learn about and support the programs and services EFGA provides to the 150,000+ Georgians living with epilepsy and seizure disorders.
This year’s event was the most successful to date, raising more than $485,000, held on Saturday, February 8th at the Ritz Carlton Buckhead. Taste of Love welcomed more than 550 guests starting off with a magnificent silent auction and the sounds of the Mary Sue Taylor Quartet throughout the plaza. The ballroom was a celebratory vision draped in tones of purple, gold & silver, thanks to the work of Atlanta’s premier decorator Tony Brewer and Company. Helping to toast this successful evening Total Wine & More was so generous in serving as the beverage sponsor for the event, including the wonderful favors of gift cards for each guest.
One of the reasons the Taste of Love has been one of the top fundraisers for epilepsy in the country for many years is that it always presents something fresh and unexpected for those who attend. New additions to this year’s program included the hilarious commentary provided by the evening’s emcee Jonathan Slocumb and the rousing entertainment from Up All Night, who literally brought guests out of their seats in cerebration. The emotional highlight of the night was a presentation featuring 10 people representing the 10 years of Taste of Love. These individuals have been assisted, touched or involved with EFGA over the past 10 years. The “Power of Ten” proved that with the support of those in attendance, EFGA can do powerful things to help those living with epilepsy. The evening concluded with a live auction and funded item appeal where guests received the coveted Taste of Love t-shirt with their contributions. While some guests retired to their luxurious rooms at the Ritz, others chose to dance the night away at the ever popular Taste of Love lounge.
