![]() | The Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia has an extensive employment program. Our program, Epilepsy Works is led by Marilyn Poliakoff, an experienced Career Counselor.
Each client is assessed on their level of seizure management, background, and job skills for their particular circumstances. For clients needing additional education, Georgia has free GED classes through the economic stimulus package. We work closely with the Ga. Department of Labor Vocational Rehabilitation Offices and the US Government and their disability hiring initiative programs. Our program prepares our clients for the job search through resume preparation, mock interviews, social networking, professional networking, and special tips that can get you the job. We will work with individuals in groups or if location is an issue we will work with you via email or telephone. With the right attitude and the willingness to put forth the effort, like any job seeker, a person with epilepsy can find a great job. |
Additionally, we work with employers, businesses, law enforcement agencies, religious, health care and volunteer organizations to educate them on epilepsy, and dispel many of the myths and misconceptions surrounding epilepsy. We also train staff/other employees in the appropriate first aid for the different types of seizures.
